I think at this stage it is fair to say that our host does not have any available backups of the entire website and forum. It seems they may well have backed up data on the server and hard drive that the actual data was being held on, which as you all know, is a bit silly.
Regardless, I have some more news.
As far as I'm concerned, and involved, AWB is now defunct, pretty much. It's a sad time and all, but don't worry too much, for there's a phoenix rising out of the ashes...
A few members have pulled together and decided to make a new Advance Wars and Battalion Wars website... it's not a replacement for AWB, as it is a fresh new website that will be run and functioning differently. It might be good to think of it as a successor, or even better, an entirely separate entity.
The name is Wars Central. It was set up in a functional state earlier today, and will be hosting information and a community for all Advance and Battalion Wars fans.
I'd like to extend an invitation for all AWBers, old and new, and any new visitors to AWB to go check Wars Central. =)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...
As a lot of you would have noticed, over the past ten days or so we have been offline entirely.
Unfortunately, the server we're based on suffered a hard drive failure, and as a result the data for the website has been lost, along with the entireity of the forums.
That is the current situation. Our host has told me they are still trying to recover data from the hard drive, and I'm sincerely hoping that they can pull data back from the hard drive, even if it's to only recover the forums, as for me, that is by far the bitterest pill to swallow.
Sadly, no entire backups were ever taken. At present no backup of the forum is available, but luckily I have copies of most of the website and related documents. It'd be one hell of a task rebuilding it all, however.
So, because of this catastrophic situation, the website is back in a very, very limited capacity. In fact, you will find that only the information needed to build this page is there, I'm sorry to say.
We hope to be able to bring the website back fully, but in my opinion, it's going to be a very long shot.
If AWB does not return, I do have a contingency in the pipeline... I'll announce more if/when the time comes.
In the mean time, if anybody is wanting to contact somebody about this mess, try to get more information or whatever, please don't email the webmaster, Jman. Directing everything to my address (nutty_crunchy_gingernutAThotmailDOTcom) would probably be the best thing to do.
I'm so sorry that this happened. It was something I was trying to get the website away from, but it didn't happen in time.
